2016 / 2018
I flew from Chile to Germany in September of 2015. I worked as a Au Pair for a few months in Freiburg. Then of course, the story got complicated. After traveling around and under a series of ironic, random and some lucky circumstances, I ended up studying and living in Linz, Austria.
Since my first days in Germany, I started to compile short scenes and sound recordings of the everyday, which later turned into letters in video format: the now called Journey Letters. These short videos narrate the personal interaction with daily life within the uncertain and unknown context that predominates throughout the first years as a stranger in Europe.
To narrate the story, I used actual phone conversations, voice messages and emails exchanged during this time. The images are from different places, situations, memories and objects that together articulate the unfinished story that is my everyday.
