Roberta Lazo Valenzuela is a Chilean composer and visual artist based in Austria. Her work encompasses a variety of media such as music, sound art, installation and visual arts.
After completing her bachelor’s degree in composition and working on various music and art projects, she migrated to Europe, where she first lived in Germany and later in Austria. In 2018, she completed a Master’s in Composition in Linz and started a second Master’s in TransArts at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. In 2021 she did an exchange semester in Norway at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts and finished her studies in Fine Arts. In 2022, she received the State Scholarship for Composition 2022 from the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Civil Service and Sport.
As a composer in the field of contemporary music, she has participated in various festivals and worked with renowned ensembles such as Airborne Extended, Ensemble Phoenix, Ensemble Recherche, Ensemble Tøyen Fil og Klafferi and Ensemble Platypus, to name a few.
Parallel to this work, she participates in a number of projects as a singer. In recent years she has combined composition and singing in a variety of projects, including the release of four albums and solo live performances.
With works that create a dialogue between the visual and the musical, she has expanded her artistic practice to sound art and transmedia arts. This interest in both worlds led her to gradually develop a series of pieces that are both art objects or sculptures, and musical or performative instruments.
Her musical and visual works have been presented, exhibited and/or performed in Austria, Germany, Norway, Romania, Latvia, Croatia, Chile, Peru, Switzerland, Spain and Ireland.

Roberta Lazo Valenzuela es una compositora y artista visual chilena radicada en Austria. Su obra abarca diversos medios, como la música, el arte sonoro, la instalación y las artes visuales.
Después de completar su licenciatura en composición y trabajar en varios proyectos de música y arte, emigró a Europa, donde vivió primero en Alemania y luego en Austria. En 2018 completó un máster en composición en Linz y comenzó un segundo máster en TransArts en la Universidad de Artes Aplicadas de Viena. En 2021 realizó un semestre de intercambio en Noruega, en la Academia Nacional de las Artes de Oslo, y finalizó sus estudios de Artes Visuales. En 2022 recibió la Beca Estatal de Composición 2022 del Ministerio Federal de Arte, Cultura, Función Pública y Deporte de Austria.
Como compositora en el campo de la música contemporánea, ha participado en varios festivales y ha trabajado con ensembles de renombre como Airborne Extended, Ensemble Phoenix, Ensemble Recherche, Ensemble Tøyen Fil og Klafferi y Ensemble Platypus, por nombrar algunos.
Paralelamente a este trabajo, participa en varios proyectos como cantante. En los últimos años ha combinado la composición y el canto en diversos proyectos, entre los que se incluyen la publicación de cuatro álbumes y conciertos.
Con obras que crean un diálogo entre lo visual y lo musical, ha ampliado su práctica artística al arte sonoro y las artes transmedia. Este interés por ambos mundos la ha llevado a desarrollar gradualmente una serie de piezas que son tanto objetos artísticos o esculturas como instrumentos musicales o performativos.
Su obra musical y visual se ha presentado, expuesto y/o interpretado en Austria, Alemania, Noruega, Rumanía, Letonia, Croacia, Chile, Perú, Suiza, España e Irlanda.

Roberta Lazo Valenzuela ist eine chilenische Komponistin und bildende Künstlerin, die in Österreich lebt. Ihre Arbeit umfasst eine Vielzahl von Medien wie Musik, Sound Art, Installation und Bildende Kunst.
Nach ihrem Bachelor-Abschluss in Komposition und der Arbeit an verschiedenen Musik- und Kunstprojekten wanderte sie nach Europa aus, wo sie zunächst in Deutschland und später in Österreich lebte. Im Jahr 2018 schloss sie einen Master in Komposition in Linz ab und begann einen zweiten Master in TransArts an der Universität für Angewandte Kunst in Wien. In 2021 macht sie ein Austauschsemester in Norwegen an der Oslo National Academy of the Arts und beendet ihr Studium in Bildende Kunst. Im Jahr 2022 erhielt sie das Staatsstipendium für Komposition 2022 des Bundesministeriums für Kunst, Kultur, öffentlicher Dienst und Sport.
Als Komponistin im Bereich der zeitgenössischen Musik hat sie an verschiedenen Festivals teilgenommen und mit renommierten Ensembles gearbeitet: Airborne Extended, Ensemble Phoenix, Ensemble Recherche, Ensemble Tøyen Fil og Klafferi und Ensemble Platypus, um nur einige zu nennen.
Parallel zu dieser Arbeit nimmt Lazo an einer Reihe von Projekten als Sängerin teil. In den letzten Jahren hat sie Komposition und Gesang in einer Vielzahl von Projekten kombiniert, darunter die Veröffentlichung von vier Alben und Solo-Live-Auftritte.
Mit Werken, die einen Dialog zwischen dem Visuellen und dem Musikalischen schaffen, hat sie ihre künstlerische Praxis auf Klangkunst und Transmedia-Kunst ausgeweitet. Dieses Interesse an beiden Welten hat zur Entwicklung von Werken geführt, die sowohl Kunstobjekte oder Skulpturen als auch musikalische oder performative Instrumente sind.
Ihre musikalischen und visuellen Arbeiten wurden in Österreich, Deutschland, Norwegen, Rumänien, Lettland, Kroatien, Chile, Peru, der Schweiz, Spanien und Irland präsentiert, ausgestellt und/oder aufgeführt.
