Gertrude

Sound art object

2019

By acknowledging the rich material that surrounds our daily routine, I composed a series of pieces that use objects as basis of sound production. The idea was to give life to the objects by turning its sound into an animal-like song. The sound pieces, “Chair”, “Kitchen Door” and “Radio”, are presented in an interactive body that combines the three households.

Both, the music and the intervened object, are base on the concept of personification and/or zoomorphism, meaning an attribution of living qualities (human and animal respectively) to an inanimate object. In this particular case, the objects are giving an own voice through music, which is later materialized in one single body or “being”, named Gertrude.
