for voice, flute, clarinet, tenor saxophone and video
2019
This piece is based on a conversation with my mom where she shares several anecdotes of her childhood, adolescence and adult life.
These stories portrait the path of Chilean women born in the 50s and how they rethink and rebuilt their role in the Chilean society.
The video uses the collage to present a mixed time-line of everyday women (working women, students, etc) and contrasts them with the imagery of the “perfect woman” promoted throughout the years.
The footage is a collection of videos from the 1940s until now, with a spotlight on Chile.
Commissioned and premiered by Ensemble Platypus for the “International Woman’s Day”, the 8th of March 2020 in Vienna.
